This loop is an excellent cultural experience, highlighting stone, mixed, and wood architectural traditions, all within a focused four-hour time block.

The excursion begins! Travel west from Kandy towards Pilimathalawa to the first temple. **Travel time is estimated at 40 minutes.**

**40 minutes visit.** Known for its distinctive South Indian Dravidian architecture and the famous **rock inscription**. Observe the main shrine built on a rock platform.

A short, 15-minute journey between the first two temples.

**40 minutes visit.** Situated dramatically on a rock outcrop, this temple features a rare blend of **Buddhist and Hindu shrines**. The architecture reflects Sinhalese, Tamil, and Indo-Chinese styles.

**Shoulders and knees must be covered** for both men and women. Light trousers or long skirts are ideal. You may be refused entry otherwise.

Shoes and hats must be **removed** before entering the sacred temple compounds. Wear socks if the stone is too hot underfoot.

It is disrespectful to pose with your back to statues of the Buddha. Always be mindful when taking photos.
